What is Boys Don't Cry?
It's a movie adapted from an outrage acts directed by Kimberly Peirce with Hilary Swank and Chloé Sévigny.
The Storie:
Teena Brandon is a girl of 21 years old. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and she lived in a caravan with her cousin until December 2003. Teena is confronted with a violent sexual identity crisis: she wants to be a boy. Helped by her cousin, she cuts her hair, wears boy clothes and becomes Brandon Teena. He begins to date girls in the city. Brothers of those girls don’t accept who he is. More than that, he has committed some illegal stuffs (stoles credit cards). One night, her cousin, who’s exceeded by the Brandon’s comportment, asks him to leave his house and the city. Brandon refuges himself in a bar. Here, he meets Candace, John Lotter, and Marvin Thomas Nissen. He goes with them to Falls City, Nebraska. He spents the night in the Candace’s house. In the morning, he wants to go back in Lincoln to present himself to a judgment convocation. John finds to him a driver to go back at Lincoln. They’ve an appointment at the bar of Falls City. Here, she meets Lana Tisdel, a John’s friends. Brandon falls in love at the first sight with her and decides to stay at Lincoln. It’s the beginning of the way to himself and to the Hell.
Lana falls quickly in love with Brandon. The first times are very happy, until the doubts about who he really is, grown. One night, they’ve been arrested to drive faster than the authorized limits. Brandon gives his licence driving and the policeman lets them go. The December 15th, 1993, When Brandon goes at the police station to pay the fine, he will be arrested, because he didn’t present herself to his judgment convocation. He’s incarcerated in the women quarters. He writes a letter to Lana to explain the situation, but he doesn’t tell her that he’s actually a girl. Lana bails for him. They spend the most beautiful day, they have never spent. During this time, John, Candace and Thomas discovered that Brandon is a girl. At their return to Lana’s home, John and Thom become very rude with Brandon and shows the true at Lana. After her departure of the house, John and Thom ‘kidnap’ Teena and raped her, to pay for being fooling them and for ‘attacking them in their virility’. Teena successes to escape from them and to go to Lana’s house. She will drive her to the hospital and Teena can lodge a complaint againts John and Thom. Unfortunately, John and Thomas, who aren’t been arrested, kill her one week later, the December 31, 1993, as a black friend of Teena and Candace. She didn’t have been put under the defence of the policy.
John Lotter has been condemned to the capital punishment and hope the review of his case. Marvin Thomas Nissen, who has collaborated with the policy, has been condemned to the perpetual detention. Teena is dead at 21 from her difference and the human stupidity.
